NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mangal Investmensts Fund is based in India with a global investment reach. Mangal has effectively diversified its portfolio over the years and kept parallel with market trends. Roles and Responsibilities
Internal
- Chair Board in a Non Executive capacity
- Bring an external, independent perspective and advise the Board accordingly
- Assist in setting and revising strategy and objectives
- Challenge executive directors on their decision making
- Scrutinize the performance of management against the objectives and values of the company
- Help to determine appropriate levels of remuneration of executive directors and senior management and to advise on reward mechanisms
- Advise on risk management and internal control frameworks
- Advise on systems which support the integrity and quality of management information
- Advise on governance arrangements and assist with succession planning, including chairing Appointments Panel
- Chair and participate in strategy meetings/AGMs with senior staff/shareholders or all staff
External
- Involvement in business development, (working closely with Board and senior team), including client visits and presentations at client events or conferences
- Provide access to useful contacts and networks to help develop new business in line with strategy
Person Specification
- Strategic management or business development role preferably in a fund, ideally engaged in environmental-related services
- Director of similar-sized company which has undergone sustained growth (Executive or Non Executive)
- Strategy development, governance, business development and operational experience
- Chairing business committees or Boards
Skills and Qualities
- Understanding of Funds values and environmental ethos
- Ability to engage constructively with senior management and to challenge on difficult issues in a non-confrontational way
- Successful motivator of senior management
- Clear and enthusiastic communicator; verbal and written
- Strategic thinker and business development orientation
- Understanding of systems and risk management
- Good understanding of management accounts and related management information
- Knowledge of reward and motivation mechanisms
Time commitment
The current Board meets approximately 6-8 times a year, and holds additional strategy meetings, including with senior staff/shareholders. The NED is expected to be available for ad-hoc advice to the Board on an as-needs basis. The total time commitment per annum is estimated as 25 days.
Period of appointment
The appointment will initially be for one year, with the option of renewing at the end of this period up to a further 2 years when Fund may seek a fresh appointment.
Conflicts of interest and commercial confidentiality
The NED appointment is made on the basis of trust, a key component of which is to ensure that there are no conflicts of interest between this appointment and posts held elsewhere. All material provided to the NED by the company should be treated as commercially sensitive, and not disclosed to third parties without the written permission of the Board, and should remain confidential for a period of at least 3 years following termination of the contract. (This clause applies to connected persons of the NED).
CHARTERD FINANCIAL ANALYST
We are looking for CFA who will be a part of our investment team. Work activities usually include:
- Analysing financial information e.g. company results, profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements to determine how an organisation is positioned to deliver for investors
- Keeping up to date with market developments, new investment products and all other areas that can affect the markets, e.g. movements in the economies of relevant countries
- Considering how the economic implications of factors such as natural disasters, weather and wars might affect the performance of companies and funds
- Monitoring the financial news using specialist media sources
- Financial modelling and projection
- Drafting and writing research reports for fund manager or client use
- Meeting with and providing information to fund managers; this might include summaries of research, investment ideas, key events from the proceeding day as well as key drivers for the day ahead
- Making recommendations to fund managers, being able to position ideas and articulate to the fund manager about the risk or payoff for each recommendation
You are expected to have:
- 6 months to 2 years of experience in either of the following industries: Hedge Funds, Mutual Funds, Venture Capital, Private Equity, Investment Banking, Corporate Development
- Strong communication, analytical, collaboration/team-player and inter-personal skills
- Flexibility and willingness to get involved in different aspects of the business as required
